Improvisational Writing Challenge for the week of June 27 – July 3, 2019

IMG_3536

The creative challenge for the week of June 27 – July 3 is to do improvisational writing. Find the resolve within to nurture an author spirit. Let go of past obsessions and forget the fires that capture your attention. Focus clearly and expand your mind into the possibilities. Release the unrealistic expectation of reflecting on your wild unconscious mind. Facilitate a balanced awareness of the present moment instead of reflecting on what you write.

The ‘write’ card happens to have a special message on the back. The card says, ‘Improvise: Games are a fun way to break the ice or spend your free time.’ Also, I pulled 13 other cards, 7 from the Sovereign Oracle deck, to spice up the reading. Based on the writing prompt, this weeks reading is spelled out for you in a very improvisational fashion!

  1. The cards and their positions in the spread:
  2. Focus: Write, Improvise, Spirit
  3. Challenge: Nurture, Resolve
  4. Past: Fire, Obsession
  5. Future: Clean, Expansion
  6. Unconscious: Wilderness, Reflection
  7. Conscious: Balance, Facilitate

To do your own new art challenge, pull cards from the Original Odyssey deck until you get an art card. There are 11 possible creative challenges, and these 11 art card activities are:

  1. Dream
  2. Act
  3. Film
  4. Sculpt
  5. Paint
  6. Write
  7. Dance
  8. Sing
  9. Play
  10. Design
  11. Rhyme

To add more variety, challenge, and spontaneity, to the 11 possible activities, pick more cards, and then combine their purpose. Please let me know if the weekly creative challenge sparks inspiration in your life. I enjoy improvisational arts, and I do these weekly to keep my skills sharp for the professional work I do.
